What's new for 2009.
Following the 2008 redesign, Subaru quickly addresses feedback regarding the WRX's performance by significantly increasing its power to 265 hp and firming up the suspension. A new 2.5GT trim is introduced, which essentially carries over the 2008 WRX's 224-hp engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, positioning it as a more comfort-oriented turbocharged option. Base models receive standard four-wheel disc brakes and stability control.
Powertrain
- WRX engine output increased to 265 hp and 244 lb-ft of torque.
- Introduction of the 2.5GT trim with a 224-hp turbocharged engine and automatic transmission.
